Sikh, Journalist or Jarnail - What ?

Jarnail – A Journalist or Communal ?

Jarnail furls his shoe on Home Minister in conference held on April 7, 2009 on the issue of Tytler given clean chit by CBI.
Incident of furling a shoe on Home Minister by a Sikh journalist in a press conference on 7/4/09 when Mr Chidambaram, HM was discussing to Terrorism. Mr. Jarnail Singh with due permission had asked HM whether decision of CBI to give clean chit to Mr. Jagdish Tytler was under some pressure by Government. The answer given by Mr. Chidambaram that CBI is an autonomous body did not convince Jarnail Singh a reporter from Danik Jagran. Perhaps it was fixed in the mind of Jarnail Singh that Tytler was just let off by CBI under governments pressure without being examining the case thoroughly especially just before election to suit Tytler.

A very witty question was asked by another interviewing journalist of repute that reporter under reference was placing himself as journalist first or a member of Sikh community first. The reporter replied he was representing as a journalist first. The question then arises why he committed this criminal act?

The journalist posed to be apologetic to this act and put the blame on his emotional outbreak. Justifying it, Jarnail represented Sikh community first and reporter later.

The journalist Jarnail Singh has been pardoned by the Home Minister and Congress party, though this criminal act has been against the government as HM was holding this meeting on behalf of government.

Views by eminent Journalist, Lawyer, Politician in favour and against this unpleasent, criminal act has been viewed by Indian public on various channels of TV.

In my opinion judiciary action is needed against Jarnail Singh and not merely pardoned as this may result in following –

Some more such incidents may occur in future.
Incident if not fully investigated, there are chances of missing its deep root.
Danger of eruption of communal violence in the country.
Misuse of journalism as profession

The whole nation is watching with curiosity the outcome of 1984 Sikh riot and awaiting impartial judgment.
